Happy Thanksgiving!
2005 | Uncategorized
I’ve had quite a few people ask me the last few days if I ‘believe’ in Thanksgiving, so now I wonder and have to ask: Do Christians think Thanksgiving is Santa Claus or something? What do you mean “believe in”? Explain this to me, because on most other holidays ( i.e. Christmas ) I’d just laugh, say “Yeah, and I also believe donkeys can talk.” and pass it off, but Thanksgiving doesn’t hold the religious weight that Christmas does anymore. Meh, I don’t get it, lol.
At any rate, whatever you believe, however you celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving America, may your turkey be dead and your cranberries be red! lol.]]>

CHRISTmas?
2005 | Uncategorized
Coral Ridge Ministries flavor of the week, to keep the focus of Christmas on Jesus Christ ( Yeshua Hamashia for those of you who don’t believe in flying people and pregnant virgins ). Do I have a problem with this? Come on, now, if you really have to ask you must be a b-s.net newbie, lol.
Yes, to answer my own question, I do, in fact, have a problem with keeping Christ in Christmas. “But, why Faith? Why do you hate the real meaning of Christmas?” To put it bluntly, I’m sick and tired of Christians stealing our holidays then putting an emphasis on the ‘real meaning’ of the day every year. Anyone who’d care to pick up a book would know that Christmas, which is not only not Yeshua’s real birthday, it’s more importantly a PAGAN holiday. In fact, Christmas in it’s current incarnation is made up of many pagan holidays, some of which include Yule & Solstice ( birth of the sungod ), and the traditions of Odin, The Holly King, The Wassailing of Trees, Yule Log, and a Druidic tradition that happens to be the root of the Christmas Tree. Tell me, where does Jesus fit into all that?
It’s not that I have problems with Christians celebrating the way they want to ( I know you can’t help the way you believe, and why should you have to? To each their own, right? ), but why not shut the fuck up about it and let us have our celebrations, too?
Do we have to see Jesus on people’s lawns? Do we have to hear Christmas Carol’s that talk about God? What about the sheer amount of violence against us this time of year by people who apparently know ‘the truth’?
Hell, we keep quiet and let you think you’re right most of the year, we don’t usually display our religious symbols, decorations, don’t sing our songs to you or practice in public. We’re not on TV all the damn time talking about how wrong you all are, or how we’re the only ones who can save you. Think about how you’d feel if you had to live in a predominantly Wiccan nation, or if your children were exposed to Blots or the Salaat in public school!?
And please don’t respond with stupidity, because I’ve heard it all. “Christmas isn’t a pagan holiday, since pagans were invented by Satan and Christmas was invented by God.”, “I don’t think we stole Christmas. I mean, think about it. CHRISTmas?”, “You ppll want to think we took all of this from you but we didn’t and you don’t have proof.” The people who wrote those will recognize them, I think, so there’s no point in putting their names up, lol. I don’t think a little respect for the real meaning of the holiday, or for the beliefs of the people who believe this way, is too much to ask.]]>
