Intangible, bet you didn’t think so, I command you to….

It seems like the only argument that you have against what most would consider an understanding of Christian history is that you don’t think I know what Christians believe – I do. My last post was made up of facts, so I can see how you might have been confused, since I don’t consider belief to be fact in any way – especially considering the weird-ass things you believe in, but to each their own I guess. My religion’s weirder than yours is, then again I don’t feel the need to shove it down everyone else’s throats.
I understand that a lot of Christians believe in the Holy Trinity, even though there’s no real biblical evidence for this. It’s a lot like the Rapture, meaning it’s opinion that skewed from the original Jewish doctrine. I have no qualms with this. If you want to believe that way, it’s your business, but I won’t take back what I said. Worship of Jesus as God is a sin by your own standards, no matter what you think you know about your religion. God also made it very clear that he didn’t want any images made of him and that you’re not allowed to call him by his name ( in the ancient world, to use a God’s name gave you power over them ), but if God and Jesus are one and you’re wearing a little Jesus covered cross around your neck, isn’t that a graven image of God? I’m sorry, it is and there’s nothing you can say that will make that okay. You don’t have enough respect and devotion for your God to do the simple things he asks of you. If Odin told me to cut everyone’s left arm off, I’d pack my bag and be off – I’d be the left arm bandit.
So here’s the sitch: If your images of Jesus ( rosary, crucifix, pictures, statues, ect ) aren’t a sin, that means Jesus isn’t God ( which he never said he was but that’s a rant for another day ), which means it’s a sin to woship him as God. But if he IS God, it’s a sin to have your graven images. You can’t get out of that, it’s not logical to do one or the other. Either way you’re sinning. You can bitch at me all you want but I know more about this than you do, most likely.
You’ll find most aethists and pagans know a great deal more about Christianity than Christians do, but it’s really through little fault of your own. You believe what your pastor, priest, vicar, whatever tells you – and why shouldn’t you? What reason do they have to lie to you? Control. CONTROL. They use the bible to keep you in line. Don’t think so? Next time you’re out with your friends, look around at them. Do they all dress pretty much the same? Trendy but conformist, never too close to crossing the line? Do you all talk alike? Do you ponder what your friends like when you put your outfit together in the morning? And the people not like you, how do you treat them? You know I don’t have to answer these questions for you. If you’re honest with yourself, most of you will realize what I’m saying.
We’re taught from the time we’re children to be carbon copies of everyone else, which as a whole I guess isn’t a bad thing. It identifies you as one of the herd, yes, but it also keeps you safe to a certain degree, because our society views those different as weak. But religion plays a role so large in the way our country conforms it’s children, that it scares even me, and I dated Jon for a year (lol, sorry Jon)! It’s all about control. It keeps everyone in line, makes sure nobody makes a scene without being punished. Think of the riots in the 50′s-80′s, and for what? Basic human rights for those that Christians had convinced themselves weren’t human. And it’s happening now, the war on homosexuals and mistreatment of other religious sects is getting out of hand.
And Christianity has the worst, most twinky defense of all: We’re a Christian nation. Uh, sure, that explains why most of our founding fathers couldn’t stand Christians. You act like you’re the only people living on this continent! Like this bullshit war on Christmas!? WHAT WAR? God, calm down! If someone says Happy Holidays, it doesn’t mean they hate Christmas, it’s just common decency to try and not alienate people of other beliefs by insisting that Christmas is the only holiday worth celebrating this time of year. Or trying to keep evolution out of schools? You guys are crazy, you know that, right?
Anyhoo, here’s the dish, Kittens: You can threaten us and claim to be the victem all you want, you’re not going to make your bullshit true. Ooh, Faith sounds more hostile than usual. It couldn’t be because I was just refused entry to a local establishment because of my religion, now could it? Oh, no. You guys are way too loving for that. Tell me the part again about not suffering a witch to live?
Rant done for the moment. Happy New Year, oh people of my loins, hope it was a good one!]]>
