Pressed Penny Fanatic

2007 | Random

As I’m sure Laota would tell you, I’ve never met a penny machine I didn’t like. Whenever we have been at a landmark ( Grand Canyon ), theme park ( Disneyland, Knott’s, Six Flags ), or just at a historical building or monument ( Nauvoo Temple ) I’ve been physically attatched to the penny machines. See, elongated pennies are the cheapest momento you can buy, usually costs less than a dollar to get your penny or quarter squished into shape and stamped and they make a neat collection that you can almost use as a scrap book to tell you at a glance where you’ve been.

I’ve got pennies from all over the world, from Tokyo Disneyland to the Mormon Nauvoo(sp?) Temple, Mount Rushmore, The Lucky Penny, Rainforest Cafe, Disneyland Paris and, of course, Knott’s and Disneyland in California, which is the single location from which I’ve pressed at least two dozen coins. They’re my favorite, I’ve got Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar, Snow White, The Wicked Queen, a lot of Mickey’s including one rare discontinued DLRR Mickey and 7 discontinued Pirates of the Caribbean pennies from 1995-1999, I wish I had a camera, my collection’s so big it takes up an entire collectors book, lol. I wish they had penny machines out here, I’d love to get another. I mean, I can buy them online but it’s just not the same, you know?
