Furniture From Home

I’ve done a few reviews of sites, and I know you’re just aching for the newest, lol. I’m poking around on FurnitureFromHome.com, which is basically an online store for dining furniture and decided to do a little review of the site. Furniture From Home really does have some beautiful modern dining furniture and formal dining room furniture, but as far as the website goes it’s really not very professional looking.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it’s an ugly site, by no means is it, in fact it’s very elegant and the colors are beautifully matched. It’s a great compliment to a dining room furniture store, but nothing about it leaps out and grabs you. They could have used images from their inventory in their graphics, maybe showcase some of their best pieces, the first thing I learned in advanced store design was that you need to showcase your product immediately. I do realize, also, that they’re using an ecommerce script so you can’t blame them for having a layout that scrolls to the side on most resolutions, because it doesn’t detract from the site in any way, I’m just used to looking for it in a fit site. A little XHTML validation wouldn’t hurt, but overall the design is very nice and classy and doesn’t hurt your eyes. I’d say three out of a possible five stars, very nice.
