Hey Hey Hey

Ooh, I just stumbled across a fantastic band by the name of &ND that I found on Unsigned.com which, as you may have guessed, provides a sweet spot for unsigned bands to showcase their stuff – think MySpace without the pop-obsessed, self absorbed teeny boppers. Teeny boppers and I have never been close, which is nice because I don’t really like them that much ( Cordy? ), but I’ve been known to brave the ravages of MySpace to get at decent music like Guided By Voices, whom I have yet to load a MySpace page for, and Gogel Bordello, who may very well be the single most brilliant and ultrafabulous band to ever walk the face of the earth. It’s hard to beat out Shivaree for my love and a place in my heart but Bordello did it, and with ease, as it turns out.

&ND is one of the only bands I’ve heard that’s an Alt band who don’t seem to be giant poseurs with Flock of Seagull’s hair and not a golden note between them ( I’m looking at you Nickelback, as well as most of the independent bands I’ve come across recently, who seem to want to be Nickelback ), but &ND is like a cold note on your pallet ( like a cupcake that’s got way too much frosting on it, only you don’t realize it until you’ve taken a bite ), but in a good way ( lol ), and they’ve got sting to them – they have such an authentic new wave sound that my sister ( who’s a world class music snob ) decided she loved them after the first verse, and I have to agree. If you haven’t, check out “Hey Hey Hey”, you’ll undoubtably love and adore them if you love bands like The Buzzcocks and Frankie Goes to Hollywood – ab fab.
