Clinical Hypnosis?
2007 | Health, Pain, Rawr, ZEN
I’ve never heard of this, it sounds interesting. Dr. Marshall Colt, who works in San Diego Pain Management, is apparently using hypnosis to treat pain from arthritis, back pain, ect. It sounds far fetched but, at the same time, I’m no believer in prayer but the act of praying has, if I’ve heard right, been medically proven to be at least somewhat successful in the healing process – I wonder if prayer is a type of self hypnosis?
Dr. Colt is a member of the ASCH – American Society of Clinical Hypnosis – and works with patients to help them harness what they call Clinical Hypnosis, meaning they can do this on their own ( if I’ve understood it right ) and can reduce their pain without using medicine. Apparently there are many studies and a lot of clinical evidence to support this, and it’s something I’d love to try on my own. I’m sure, if nothing else, that clinical hypnosis can relax someone to the point of natural sedation if it’s done right, I know meditation has eased pain for me a few times, especially in my back and neck.Who knows? It sounds worth a try, I may be surprised!
