Lap Band Procedure
2007 | Health
I’ve never heard about Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding before this year when I’d heard about it on, I think, The Learning Channel or Discovery and had often wondered if it would work for me, though now reading about what the actual procedure is, and how it affects the patient, I’m not sure that finding a lap band physician is right for me. See, an Adjustable Gastric Band is great for those who have a tendancy to over eat without realizing it, or over eat in general but my problem is partially PCOS and partially my inability to walk without a severe and painful limp ( See This Post ), I never really over ate.
However I think my mom would be able to use this, since she’s gained some weight recently and has stressed that it’s from over eating. It’s not that she’s got no self control, I think she’s just been really stressed lately – her boss doesn’t help with that.
Basically, the idea behind this procedure is to section off part of the stomach with an adjustable band to reduce the storage size of the stomach and therefore restrict the amount of food you can eat all at once. The idea being that you get full faster and the food you do eat takes a slower ride, which aids digestion from what I understand. Very cool, I wish it would work for me.
