Shoutback Fundraising
2008 | Uncategorized
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t enjoy giving back to my community, and it’s not that I’ve got a problem with schools, churches, scouts, etc. raising money they need for books, uniforms, and so on, but more than once I’ve paid four to six times what I really should be paying for products I’ve more than once not recieved.
In fact, just this past October I was approached by two kids selling things from a flyer, one for band uniforms and the other selling to get a scouts badge. Well, I waited patiently and I did get what I’d paid for in the first case, but in the latter – an overpriced magazine subscription – I didn’t even get a phonecall or explaination of why I never recieved my magazine voucher. Seriously, dude, this kind of thing ends up annoying and, ultimately, it’s just not going to raise the money that people need.
One way to avoid this would be to use Shoutback.com, which is an online service where everyone from groups to individuals can raise money via an online auction system, and honestly there are a lot of people out here who could use the help. For example, the local scouts and the poor as dirt school could do with some help from a service like Shoutback that’s easy to use and produces results.

Just to note: What I find offensive? Is what we'll call offensive, this being my blog and all. ;)
