Vacation Romance

2008 | Uncategorized

I’m always looking for vacation ideas, and yet I never end up being able to afford a vacation. My last was about ten long years ago, I went to Anaheim and Oceanside with my sister where we went every two years. We’d go to Disneyland, stay with my step sister, go to Sea World or to the San Diego zoo, go out dancing, etc. but as of late, with my budget, it’s hard to find things to do in Boston or any possible things to do in Phoenix that I could ever afford. I’ve seriously thought about using Trusted Tours & Attractions to go on one of those New York city tours, but I know for a fact I’m just day dreaming. Until I can get a better job, vacations are off limits for me.

The last vacation I’d ever had was the very first I had with a cell phone. I wasn’t ever the kind of person who had the latest in technology, lol, so I was late to the scene and it was a track phone. Well, this was only a few weeks after I’d met my current boyfriend Wil, and I had just a few weeks before been broke up with by Todd ( Apparently 166 lbs is way too fat for a girlfriend ), and I’d brushed off Greg, a sky diver with a God complex who was way too into his own appearance, and I just wanted to be alone for awhile. I was in a state of mind where I thought I didn’t want to have anything to do with men in a romantic sense, it seemed ridiculous to me to have to deal with them period.

Now, up until we all paired off, you could say that me and my friends were underlying poly-amorous, lol. The reason I say this is because we’d float in and out of relationships with each other, break up and remain friends as if nothing had happened, and a former boyfriend Jon was convinced that my problem was that I was dating outside my circle of friends, so when he found out that Wil was interested in me ( which was obvious to everyone but me, as it turns out, lol ), the first thing he did was to tell me to go on this vacation and just clear my mind ( and turn my phone off ) – he didn’t tell me that he was trying to keep me away from this new guy.

Well, I’m a few days into my vacation in Oceanside, the family is fighting again as usual about wither or not we could afford to go visit my other two step sister’s in San Francisco. So, even though there are plenty of things to do in San Francisco and Oceanside, Laota and I needed a break so we asked out step sister to drive us down to El Camino Real to go shopping, and they had a pay computer there – $1 meant 10 minutes of internet time. So, I thought I’d go through my email and maybe play Moloch’s Revenge on the old Buffy website ( 1999 ), and when I log into my email there are, like, a large row of emails broken up here and there by the occasional spam – all from one person. Wil had missed me, as it turns out, and gone to a virtual flowers website. Instead of sending a dozen red roses in a bouquet to my mailbox, he sent about the same number of individual white lilies with no message. That was easily the most romantic thing I’ve ever experienced on vacation – even if it was a bit stalker-y, lol. And yes, it did sort of make me fear him for awhile, but here we are almost ten years later, happier together than ever.
