Your Rice Maker: Your Travel Companion

2008 | Uncategorized

Tips_tricksOne thing I never like to be without when I travel is an electric rice maker. I know it sounds weird but it’s the most convenient appliance to have in the trunk of your car on a long journey or at work, and I’ll tell you why – because it’s basically a low-temperature crock pot.

At rest areas you’ll generally find a large, brick or stone building where the bathrooms and vending machines are and inside those buildings are usually convenient electrical outlets, and here’s where the fun happen. If you have a rice maker and you’re, say, stopping after halfway through a long trip you can fill the rice maker up with water and make rice – obviously. But did you know you can also make tea, cocoa or instant coffee, make pasta, heat sauces, warm bread, fry an egg, make bacon, warm sandwhichs, make soup, wash dishes in hot soapy water, have hot water to wash your face and hands and more.

It’s definately worth the $15-$30, and if you manage to find yourself an car adaptor you can even use it without a rest stop near by!
