The Power of EDU

2008 | Blogging

As I’ve mentioned before, or should I say, as I’ve ranted about before? It’s getting hard these days to find a decent place to buy text links that actually works for your website or your clients websites, because search engines like Google are rapidly making it harder for those who sell or buy links to see any turnaround from our investments.

Fortunately, there’s sort of an untapped market for purchasing text links, and it’s the use of the edu link. See edu links, which are domainname.edu, were issued only to schools and educational websites for the longest time, in fact I’m not sure how Edutextlink.com Web Services got ahold of their whopping 25+ valid and legitimate edu domains, and what this means to you is a domain name that still carries weight and authority in the eyes of the big search engines like Yahoo, Google, etc.

What they do is charge you a one time fee and in return for your intitial investment you get your link naturally incorporated into one of their edu websites, inside text as if someone had blogged about your website or listed it on their own domain because they had chosen to do so on their own, without you paying for it, and search engines really like that. They’re looking for what they call Quality Links, and assume that if you’ve paid to have your site linked somewhere, then your website isn’t ‘quality’ – which well all know doesn’t make much sense. So your edu links give the illusion of organic inclusion, and it keeps you from being penalized. What that means to you is that search engines won’t automatically write you out of their searches and peg you as someone who’s paid for links, and that means higher search engine rankings and more quality traffic for you in the long run!

BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Please understand that, though I'm all for free speech, I'm also busy and downright mean. Because of this I will not tolerate offensive, inappropriate or hateful comments. I'll warn you and delete the offensive part, but if you repeat the offense I'll probably ban you from the domain. I'm sorry, but I just don't have time for spam, racism, and so on and so on. Just to note: What I find offensive? Is what we'll call offensive, this being my blog and all. ;)
