Free Credit Report? Free?

Am I the only person annoyed to death by the FreeCreditReport.com ads with the fake-y band that sings about the different ways you can have your credit screwed up without knowing it? Uh, yeah, me too honey. Here’s the issue that I’ve got with these:
First of all, they’re annoying the hell out of me to the point of my wanting to hunt that ‘band’ down and flush them down the toilet.
Secondly the dude who sings these songs is basically not a real dude, meaning they’re ‘catchy’ jingles at best and that’ll only get you so far. I’m sure most of us are smart enough to realize that it’s just advertising, though. For those of you who didn’t realize that, har har, Click Here.
Third, and probably most importantly, there’s something that nobody manages to get around to telling you in those horrible FCR commercials and that would be? Oh, yeah, Free Credit Report.com isn’t even free! You have to sign up with another service that, after the 7 day ‘free’ trial, you have to cancel to keep from getting a charge of $14.95 EVERY MONTH. That’s right, you have to pay to get your FREE credit report, and you’ll probaby end up spending way more than you would have if you’d just go to lifelock for, say, $10 a month which they’ve at least been upfront about.
At least the people those commercials for Lifelock are actual people, or at least I assume they’re actual people? Why does Free Credit Report treat idenity theft like it’s a buzz term to sell their services instead of really doing something about it? Yes, I’ll give you that knowing your credit score will help you but why not save $4.95 every month and hire identity body guards?
BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Please understand that, though I'm all for free speech, I'm also busy and downright mean. Because of this I will not tolerate offensive, inappropriate or hateful comments. I'll warn you and delete the offensive part, but if you repeat the offense I'll probably ban you from the domain. I'm sorry, but I just don't have time for spam, racism, and so on and so on. Just to note: What I find offensive? Is what we'll call offensive, this being my blog and all. ;)
