Windows Vista
2008 | Business
Okay, here’s the deal with Windows operating systems. They get more and more user-friendly, more and more streamlined and more and more dynamic with every new OS Microsoft puts out, which basically means they’re less and less customizeable and exponentially more maddening for me. The system I like the worst, thus far, with maybe the exception of Windows 95 ( they didn’t start getting good until 98 ) is Windows Vista.
Now, Vista is actually a great OS, it’s perfect if you’re a college student or a grandma with no computer knowledge at all. You can get done w hat you need to get done, play games, watch DVDs, write your thesis, run a small business, in fact you can do anything on it – except run your programs.
I’m operating on XP right now and it’s making me miss the 90s, but until Vista came out I never had to replace arm-and-leg expensive programs like Adobe Photoshop because they just *will not* run on Vista if, like myself, you can’t afford to upgrade from Photoshop 7. At least XP will let me stay cheap and keep my hard-earned money, something I can’t say for Vista and being in the graphics business I sort of need those programs so while Vista is great for the majority of people, there will always be purists like moi who prefer our good, old 98′s because we’re old fogey’s and we can’t accept change, lol.
I’m sure if I had all the money in the world, I wouldn’t mind Vista, I might even like it ( I’m sure I can figure out how to change my system boot screen, that would make me feel more at home I think. ), but I can’t really get behind a product that forces you to buy a million new software titles just to get you back to square one.
