Month of Movies #2

2008 | Movies

As you may know, I’ve started posting small reviews and ratings of my favorite films – alternating days here and at Shibuya 109 – and it’s time to post my review of Movie #2 for November’s Month of Movies.

STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT (1996)

This beautifully written film could have easily stood on it’s own, without the need to be the extension of the popular Star Trek series, but as a spin off film of Star Trek: The Next Generation the plotline follows the television show well enough that it should be a treat for any TNG fan.

The film follows Picard and the crew of the Enterprise circa TNG on a trip back in time ( as do many of the Star Trek films ) to try and stop the Borg from cock blocking humans first contact with alien life. Everyone is insanely good in this film, the TNG cast picks up their characters again with no problem and the film, much like the show, is a mixture of great writing, fan service and humor. A huge budget and twelve year old special effects that still out preform some of the bigger CGI films today, Fist Contact gets 4 stars out of a possible 5!

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s film, which will be posted on Shibuya 109!
