Holiday Frames
2008 | Health, Holidays
I’m getting headaches from trying to read this screen. I, of course, still need nw glasses which I can’t afford. I haven’t been able to afford an eye exam, so the last one I had was when I was in the seventh grade. I wish I didn’t need another eye exam because if I could get by without one or I already had my perscription to fill I could get an adorable pair of holiday frames over at Zenni Optical for a great price on your perscription glasses, which is great if you’re looking to buy yourself an emergency pair just in case something happens to your everyday frames.

Zenni’s got a huge variety of gorgeous frames to choose from which is nice, and the fact that you’re getting your glasses in a price range that starts as low as eight dollars is amazing to me, so whenever I start thinking about how much I need those glasses it’s almost always Zenni’s slection that I go and check out. My absolute favorite pair are a cute and funky (yes, I actually used the word funky) floral frames called the 4961 Stainless Steel Full-Rim Frame with Flower Printed Temples. They are just adorable! Their price is even more adorable, hehe.

Rawr at Rude People

You know what? Thumbs down and stink eye to Casey’s General Store. Those freaking jackenapes took on of our coupons, said it was good, scanned it and made a mistake – the coupon didn’t deduct anything from the price because they did it wrong. The price was originally $13.99 and ends up being about $15 with tax, and we had a $2 coupon, so it should’ve been $13-ish but it came out $15. I look at the receipt and low and behold it didn’t deduct at all.
I mentioned it to the girl at the register and, as if I didn’t have my own debit copy of the reciept in my hand, she tries to tell me that the original price with tax was $17 and it *did* deduct the money. Now, the price of this item is plastered on the wall in huge, red letters – $13.99. It rang up as $13.99. It’s on my receipt as $13.99. So what the hell is she doing? She’s lying.
See, obviously she didn’t know what she was doing. All she had to do was say she didn’t know what happened, she thought it went through or she didn’t know how to use the coupon because the extra $2 isn’t that big a deal. What gets me is that she was *rude* from moment one then wouldn’t even entertain the notion that she’d done something wrong. Yeah, it’s more the rude thing that bothers me.

New Year’s Resolution
2008 | Money
New year time. How did that go by so fast? The holidays seemed to zip by the quickest but that’s probably because I don’t really celebrate them all that much, and what I did celebrate was cheap because I’m pretty poor and I’ve got to live right at my means or beneath them, so I rarely ever find myself in any debt at all but I know a lot of people who are deeply in debt, some from living extravagantly but most from simple things like rent, hospital bills, groceries, etc. and this is the time of year it hurts them the most.
During the holidays, if you’re already in debt, really the only way to participate in gift giving is to sink further into debt or put off paying debt back, and that’s a dangerous business. Too much debt can ruin your life, even if that debt isn’t your fault. You still owe it and it can really haunt you. Creditors calling your home, maybe even your work. Having to work longer, more hours, maybe even extra jobs just to make ends meet and still pay your minimum. Plus a low credit score can keep you from getting everything from a house loan to a job. I didn’t realize until this year that poor credit can keep you from getting a job, which makes it like a vicious cycle and if I were a Marxist I’d see an evil pattern of dirty pool here.
One way to keep from sinking further into debt is to seek debt management services from a company like ClearDebt. With their help you can get your debt consolidated into one, easy to manage monthly payment that may be reduced as much as 65%, plus they’ll handle your creditors for you and negotiate on your behalf. New year. Good time to think about starting fresh, don’t you think?

Still Sick
| Family, Health
Ugh, still sick. Stupid Salmonella. Remind me never to go anywhere with my mother again as long as I live, or eat anything she makes or buys because I always end up getting hurt, sick or worse just from being around her and doing the things she does. I’ll give her that I may just be susceptible because Laota and I basically live on rice, miso, canned veggies, ramen and tea with little variations thrown in so granted out stomachs may not be used to the way she eats but you don’t get Salmonella because you’re used to eating rice, that just doesn’t happen.
I’m feeling better but only barely and it’s been over a week. I just want this to be over with already. I’d like to eat something solid without barfing it up and it would be nice to not be doubled over in pain all the damn time.
