Birthdays A-Go-Go!

2009 | Family, Holidays

It’s too late, or way too early this year to be thinking about my birthday. Both my sister and I, as well as all of my closest friends, happen to have birthdays from early September to late December so that part of the ‘birthday season’ is over for me, but I recently got to visit Celebrations.com and it got me thinking about birthdays again. They’ve got a ton of awesome birthday party ideas over there, many of which are extraordinary and colorful – ideas I couldn’t have thought up in a million years.

They have ideas like how to throw a modern tea party, celebration of children’s parties, how to mak the perfect birthday cake written by a professional pastry chef and just oodles more. The website is easy to navigate and very cute and professional – I hate the terms hip and stylish but I think that they apply to this site in a very good way!

If I were to use this website to plan a party for myself, it wouldn’t be a fantasy party, because a fantasy party would involve Shia LaBeouf and a sundae as big as my house so I’m going to have to tone that idea down to something do-able, lol. The modern tea party looks amazing, I love that idea though I never drink black tea I suppose I could take their idea and use it for a Japanese style bento party taken more like English tea than actual bento.

Home made mustard, wasabi and tuna stuffed onigiri with bonito furikake and colorful bento boxes passed out to everyone as favors to fill up with rice and gyoza. Maybe some lobster noodle instant soup, just sitting around with my friends and watching Keen Eddie and Buffy DVDs, maybe listening to Shivaree and April March.

The tea is the centerpiece, or that’s how I’d like it to be. A boiled hot water pot with multiple dishes of various tropical green and white teas ( a white and peach with coconut and hibiscus would be perfect for me ), and maybe some instant Yuan Yang or milktea would be sweet! Have berry infused honey and vanilla infused sugar available for those who want sweeter tea, and everyone gets their own pretty ceramic tea mug to make their own tea in on the fly. Of course they’d be able to take the mug home as a party favor. See, now that I’ve thought about this I have to do it. Hurry November, I want to celebrate my birthday!
