I’m at once dreading and relishing the idea of summer. It’s so cold right now that any warmth at all would be nice, and when we do have a decent day it’s spoiled by snow or rain or the insane winds you get here in Tornado Alley. I’d rather not hoof it the six miles I’d need to walk to get to the grocery store, and it’s not like I can just drive there which annoys me.
I’m ready to do anything to keep from being stranded, heck I’d even make a an android all by myself out of Cruiser motorcycle parts if I had the chance – anything to not have to walk on those narrow, crappy, hilly roads with no sidewalks and pick-up drivers who don’t care to look where they’re going. Plus the soccer moms who are too busy gabbing on their mobiles and reapplying their eyeliner to watch the road.
But if I want to eat then I have to walk, which wouldn’t be such a big deal if the conditions were a bit nicer. All I’m asking for are sidewalks and decent weather. Or public transportation which is another fun thing other cities have that this one doesn’t. No buses, no cabs, no mall, no bike paths, no real parks (baseball diamond and football field don’t count in my mind), no museums, no coffee houses. No nothing. 7 gas stations, 1 grocery store, a post office, a Pamida and a second hand store then two dozen or so empty buildings where stores used to be before they were run out of town. Nice place, huh?
