Andy Hallett 1975 – 2009
2009 | Love, Music, Pain
I don’t think anything has saddened me more as of late than news of Andy Hallet’s tragic passing. You may not know his face, you may never have heard his name, but to millions of Angel the Series fans he will always be Lorne, the amazingly talented and snarky, easily irritated, quite flamboyant and semi-empathic peacemaking Pylean also known as Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan.
Andy was one of the most talented men of his generation. He was handsom, charismatic, talented actor and singer who’d suffered from cardiomyopathy since 2005. I actually remember when he was first hospitalized for that, and how worried everyone was about him. I don’t think we ever really thought we’d lose him, though, but we did. He passed away last night (March 30) of heart failure. He was only 33 years old.
My heart goes out to his family and friends, I wish them nothing but well and hope that they’re making it through this tragic time. Andy will always be loved and missed, and will always be a song in our hearts.

Are You Bored At Work?
2009 | Movies, Rants
Me too! I’m starting to think that shooting up the place sounds like a great way to spend my weekend, lol. Yeet anotherweekend, just to point out, that I don’t get any downtime because I have to work.
I’m seriously wanting to go to sleep, though, I’ve been awake almost two days and I’ve got that fun sensation of my heart beeting in my throat to let me know that I’ve got a choice between a nap and cardiac arrest. I can’t stop myself from yawning and it’s getting harder and harder to keep my poor yes open.
I’m kind of annoyed because I thought I’d have some time off today so that I could make some popcorn and rewatch Sunshine for no other reason than I have it playing in my mind all the time. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but if you love Chris Evans and you’ve always wanted to see Mercury drift between you and the sun this is the movie for you. *sigh* I love it.

It’s Finally Tomato Season!
| Home and Garden, Money
There’s nothing that I love more than our little hanging tomato plant. She’s a god little plant who, thanks to my brown thumb, has had to come back from the dead three times! Her name is Sadako, named after the infamous Ringu ghost, and she shares our home with Yoichi and Toshio – both small house plants. Unfortunately for us we can’t ever put Sadako outside because of the horrible bugs! We live in Missouri in a spot that’s very swampy when it’s wet, which is all the time, and extremely hot or extremely cold depending on what time of year it is. The saying around here is that this part of the country has no seasons, just sweltering and freezing.
Because of the hot, humid, muggy weather during the spring through fall we have insane bug problems here. Loads of snails, aphids, mosquito, giant spiders that look like medium sized tarantulas but they aren’t and the awful, horrible fruit flies! They’re everywhere! You can have the cleanest house in the world and still have fruit flies. They’re all over the county, thick as fog during humid weather, and they waft in every time you open the door so going in and out of your home becomes a race!
So obviously, this is an uncomfortable place to live, right? Well it’s also very hard on our poor Sadako. We can’t keep bugs off of her no matter what we do, what kind of sprays and home remedies we try. And if you want to do anything organically out here? Well you’re just out of luck, people look at you like you’re insane for even asking about organic products. It’s going to become a situation where we’ll just have to buy our products on the internet, the way we do with everything else. I’ve been thinking for a couple of weeks about buying a organic tomato growing kit to properly take care of Sadako in doors since we can’t really put her outside. She’s actually a hanging plant, we got her in a ‘kit’ with a basket and moss and she’s a resilient little thing. I wish we could put her outside and prop her up with one of SaferBrand’s Stake it Easy garden stakes to keep her supported, plus keep her protected with their very affordable and apparently very effective Tomato & Vegetable Insect killer. It’s information page is very, very impressive (even protects against caterpillars!) and yes, it’s organic!

End of Season Glee!
2009 | Beauty, Clothing, Gifts and Giving, Money
Do you know what I love about this time of year? Is it warmer weather? No, I live in Missouri, warmer weather here is just as horrid as cold weather – all humid and damp, way too hot and buggy – no, it’s definitely not the weather. Well, could it be the sunshine? Summertime activities just around the corner waiting at the end of spring? Nope, it’s none of that. What I love about this time of year are the post winter sales.
I love sales because I basically live below the poverty line so any time I can go to a store like Sears and get 75-80% off of the quality clothing I’ll be wanting to wear when the weather gets cold again, I’m giddy and 100% for it! I love it when stores liquidate their end of season stock!
I’m having such a hard time as it is, though, and this economy isn’t helping anything. I’ve already headed over to Busted Moms on Facebook and became a fan so that I can keep up with Sears latest deals and check out all of the awesome contests they’re offering right now. Actually, I really recommend becoming their fan if you have facebook, or heading over to your Twitter account and following @bustedmoms today!
