Dolphin Bubbles!

2009 | Beauty, Holidays, Travel, Video

I’ve been following the SeaWorld Dolphin Bubbles website for a few weeks now, in fact I’m so in love with this website that I had their advertisement in various places on my website (I’m sure you’ve seen it if you’re a regular) because of what the website’s got on it.

What are Dolphin Bubbles? Well, the Dolphins at SeaWorld seem to be teaching us through their everyday lives and play that they are more than capable of complicated thought process and learning and complex skills that aren’t one hundred percent survival related. What started out as only a few dolphins has now become a phenomenon – the dolphins have created their own game that involves learning a skill for no other reason than the seeming sheer enjoyment of playing with bubbles.

What they’re doing is taking a breath and going under water, then blowing bubbles out of their blow holes and turning those bubbles into a complicated game. They sheer a small piece of the bubble off to play with, rotating and spinning it carefully in the water, maintaining it’s size and form and then sneaking it away, biting or popping it if any other dolphins manage to get too close to their home made toy. It’s SO cool! Very adorable, very mezmerizing thing to watch. If you haven’t been to DolphinBubbles.com then now is the time to go, definately!

Here’s a video of what I’m talking about:

On top of that the website is splashy and bright, very summer time-y and for someone who lives as far away from the ocean as humanly possible on this continent, it’s nice to see that watery blue and get to watch these videos even if I can’t go see this with my own eyes. Don’t you love YouTube?
