Ethical Hacking? What?

2009 | Business, Electronics, Nostalgia

Okay, granted I don’t usually talk about hacking at all, especially not on my blogs but there was a time in the distant past when I was a big fan of security ‘level’ hacking games like try2hack.nl (which has been around forever and ever), but while my ‘hacking’ was small time stuff and never illegal (games only) it never dawned on me that if I had developed the skill it could’ve been very finanically useful.

Hacking is a skill that actually can be used to better not only your life but others. I know it sounds weird, but just go with me on this, lol. A decent hacker can actually earn money legitimately through something called “Ethical Hacking“. What Ethical Hacking does for IT Security is find exploits and holes in security software – what a hacker was built to do – for the purpose of making the program/software even more secure, because now that they know about these security flaws they can be fixed and patched.

IT Security is a field that’s becoming more and more important (make that neccesary) as the net’s reach grows, and you can train for a great paying job in the field if you’re so inclined at EC-Council in categories ranging from computer fundementals to penetration testing and more. It’s a great way to find the perfect job as a Certified Ethical Hacker, and in an economy where job losses keep rising it’s nice to know that there’s one field that’s potential is as yet untapped, isn’t it?
