Break Out The Sunscreen!

2009 | Family, Friends, Holidays, Travel

I’m all crazy jealous of Megan, Kate and Leanne. No, not because I’d give my smarts for their looks in a heartbeat (I would, though, lol!) but because just this past month they’ve all gotten to take great vacations to Florida and I’m stuck in the middle of nowhere without a penny to my name, unable to take a vacation to the store let alone another state. I’m wasting away here. It’s been eleven whole years since my last vacation – that’s right, the last time I was out of this state people still wore BugGrrl Jeans! Am I old, or what?

Megan and Leanne went together and they’re staying this very minute at a hotel not too far from Kissimmee, Florida, where they’ve been playing at SeaWorld and Disney World for the last week and a half. Jealous! I am *so* jealous that I’m actually green! Look at my skin, it’s green!

I’d love a chance to visit Kissimmee, FL. I’d bring my sister Laota and we’d stay at the Radisson Orlando Celebration Resort on Parkway where Penny stayed with her new hubby a few weeks ago. The first thing we’d visit would be Epcot Center because I’ve always wanted to go there, ever since watching old footage of Walt Disney talking about how great he wanted it to be – always sad that he never got to see it.

I’m kind of a child. I’d spend most of my time at Disney, especially in The Magic Kingdom. One of Laota and my favorite passtimes when we were in Anaheim was to go to Disneyland and sit on a bench just off the main walkway, down one of the little back roads in New Orleans Square. There’s a little bench between the buildings beneath the balconys, and at dusk when the sky is turning purple they light up all the strings of lights and it turns those pathways a dark gold – it’s so gorgeous. Pair that with the beautiful, fragrant and temperate air and the sounds of children laughing and people having fun – perfect moment.

Of course, we’d have to see SeaWorld Orlando and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but I’d love to stop in at the Taste of Four Corners on May 13th, too. I know May’s basically summer, and people hate crowds but I just love them. I love hustle and bustle, and I’m just not cut out for country living – it doesn’t agree with me. But unfortunately I don’t have much of a choice, and my budget barely pays for food to eat so Kissimmee is sadly out of the question. Well, not unless Kissimmee were giving away three weekend getaways for two and two week-long vacations for four … but that would never happen. No, wait, it is happening! Drawings will be held around April 1 (sadly passed), May 1 (also passed) and the upcoming June 1, 2009 drawing. What do you have to lose!?
