Working The Late Shift
2009 | Business, Rants, Rawr, Work
Ughhh. The life of a customer support rep. for a small web hosting company is not one of short hours, let me tell you. Jon and Helen are both taking personal days so there are only three of us staffing this shift. I’m so tired. If it weren’t for the fact that I get a short recess for ‘lunch’ (term used loosely, considering it’s almost six in the morning) to whine about it on my blog I’d probably go starkers, lol.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy my job, which I do actually because I get along so well with most of the clients who are assigned to my shift, but there’s only so many times you can explain what database hosting is and how it has nothing to do with why they can’t upload MP3s before you slowly descend into madness and take the whole planet with you.
A big mistake a lot of first time web hosting buyers is jumping into a package that’s not right for their needs from a host that’s over charging them because they don’t really know what they need yet or how much they can expect to pay competitively. That’s why I’m such a fan of WebHostingGeeks.com and their huge archive of useful articles and discussion on the various aspects you should know about web site hosting before you decide on a specific company. WHG could save you a lot of time, and save your support rep. a lot of frustration!
BEFORE YOU COMMENT: Please understand that, though I'm all for free speech, I'm also busy and downright mean. Because of this I will not tolerate offensive, inappropriate or hateful comments. I'll warn you and delete the offensive part, but if you repeat the offense I'll probably ban you from the domain. I'm sorry, but I just don't have time for spam, racism, and so on and so on. Just to note: What I find offensive? Is what we'll call offensive, this being my blog and all. ;)
