Review: How To Lose Friends and Alienate People

2009 | Movies, Reviews

htlfI’ve finally gotten to see the Kirsten Dunst dramady ashcan How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, a film I was lead to believe was a piece of garbage thanks to low ticket sales, media thumbs downing and critic panning. Contrary to all of that, I gave it a shot because I’m a big fan of Megan Fox, Jeff Bridges and the always amazing uber-hottie Simon Pegg, and you know what? It was insanely good.

How did this film get bad reviews? Did the reviewers just not see it and play a game a grab ass, then play yet another game of follow the leader after the first critic called pew on it? Probably. I’m of the mind that most film critics don’t really watch the films they’re critiquing.

The film is very much the same great storytelling films you’d expect from Pegg and has a bit of that Apatow charm (Judd had nothing to do with it as far as I know).

Okay, here’s something else that’s interesting about the film? It’s not about Kirsten Dunst’s character. It’s about Simon Pegg. How did that slip under the radar? The awful media, awful! Trying to get me not to watch a Simon Pegg film! Overall the film was great, Dunst was awful, Fox was perfect and Pegg was the most enjoyable part aside from the script. [review pros="Great Story, Great Adaption, Simon Pegg, Megan Fox, Jeff Bridges" cons="Over-use of Kirsten Dunst" score=95]
