Twitter Predjudice

I just read someone on Twitter saying that if you can fill out a sign (one of those ‘will work for food signs’, I’m guessing) then you should be able to fill out a job application. She feels ‘bad’ for people who are homeless and begging, but all they have to do is try to get a job? Is she serious?
That’s such BS! This is what it sounds like when someone’s never had to go without. Just a few tweets earlier she’s talking about getting new clothes. Almost in the same breath she basically says homeless people just don’t want to work? Spoiled. Brat. And if she’s not spoiled she’s insensitve and has no excuse for it.
Kids, people don’t want to hire homeless people. It doesn’t matter what you’re saying to yourself, you don’t know. I’ve been there and I can tell you for certain that the vast majority of employers want “winners”. That means they want to hire people who seem like they’ve got it all together, that they don’t need a job in the first place. They don’t want to hire people who don’t have a residence. They don’t want to hire people who need jobs.
And who are the employers doing this? In my experience they’re the same people saying, “Get a job.” to anyone who’s been dealt a bad hand. You have no idea how easy it is to be on the other side of the fence. Maybe this girl should walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Or lack of them.
