I So Need A Branson, Missouri Vacation

2009 | Holidays, Money, Shopping, Travel

showboat-1Every once in awhile I get really depressed that I live in Missouri. I live in a spot where there’s no work, no dining, no entertainment – heck, there may as well be no sun or air here. I realize that this is the “simple” life, and a lot of people enjoy it but I’m a city brat and by nature this is like being caught on a giant glue board.

This isn’t, however, the way it is all over Missouri. In fact I live in the same state as one of the biggest, most well known vacation spots in America and I’m sure all over the world – Branson, Missouri.

We’ve got a lot of cool stuff in Missouri – we’ve got painted caverns, The Ozarks, Six Flags, riverboats, casinos, historical sites but for a girl who grew up in Vacation Land, Branson’s got everything. They have live shows, they have fine dining, they have luxurious surroundings with a lot to do like the kind you’ll find at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing but my sister and I hail from Anaheim, California (she was born there, I was not) and consider it to be our home so, of course, I’m the kind of girl who can’t pass up a theme park.

Sure we’ve got theme parks up here (Oceans and Worlds of Fun – both of them from the people who brought you Knott’s Berry Farm), but this is different. Branson is like Candy Land for people who love to have a good time with their friends and families. And there’s no place in Missouri that more embodies good, clean fun than Silver Dollar City.

I can’t even make a list of things to do – they’d all be in Silver Dollar City, lol. Well, that’s not entirely true. I’m crazy in love with the idea of staying in a cabin at The Wilderness, then checking out the Branson Belle Showboat. Then I think it would be Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Roy Rogers / Dale Evans Museum. Of course we’d have to visit the Dinosaur Museum, the fountain in the town square and lastly we’d check out the Dixie Stampede show. I’d love to do all of those things but mostly I just want to get to the attractions at Silver Dollar City. I’m a log flune person, call it a crutch, and I love coasters!

I would love to check in to the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel, though, because they’ve got some top notch recreation – like fishing. Yes, fishing is one of the neat things listed on their website! How cool is that?

Actually right now they’re having a great special offer that gets a family of four overnight accomodations and 3 day park hopper passes to Silver Dollar City and White Water from about $439, which is a steal!
