Family Meeting or How I Met Mr. Books
2010 | Family, Food, Friends, Holidays, Home and Garden, Random
Well, it’s officially the day before Thanksgiving and my mother’s new hubby(who we’ll call Ben)’s family is here, namely his pretty, sweet mother (we’ll call her Miss Mama after this) and his fun, wile-y, ornery brother (who we’ll call Mr. Books after his love of reading).
Ben’s already made Laota‘s day-before-Thanksgiving a minor nightmare, lashing out at her without too much provocation. He’s usually a pretty sweet guy, but he’s very passive aggressive and very sensitive, so he’ll misunderstand you then, instead of asking you what you meant or confronting you, he says nothing but treats you shitty. Then he’ll hold a grudge for a few days and blow up at you for something small – I love him to death, but that’s irritating as hell and to be honest it’s a form of minor abuse on his part, or at least that’s what I’m going to call it since he’s already called Laota saying, “You don’t need me here.” abuse. Yes, that’s his version of abuse. Holy crap, talk about a charmed life, lol. Ah well, people can only handle what they’re used to being able to handle, to ask them to handle more gracefully is normally unrealistic.
Mr. Books is apparently slightly, uh, estranged. He and Ben don’t see eye to eye because Mr. Books doesn’t like his choice of religions, which I more than understand, because I don’t either. He’s a pretty nice guy, we get along really well. We talked history, dictators, empires, ancient inventions, religion, politics, dead languages, political correctness, etc. without getting into any sort of real argument. We don’t agree on a lot of things, but we can agree to disagree without too much trouble – Ben needs to learn from this guy.
I thought for sure it was Thanksgiving already! I had no idea, I thought I’d missed it when I woke up (late night, ended up waking up at noon). Apparently I just got my dates wrong, yay me, I may get to see my parade after all! I love this time of year!
I’m so not looking forward to it freezing, though. Seriously, any colder than this is too cold, lol! What can I say? I’m still a California girl at heart, and I really miss the weather in Malibu. It’s just awful here. The temperature is erratic, it’s either freezing or melting you into a puddle and there’s usually no middle ground. This year’s been no different, almost as soon as it started to cool off the cold air, rain and wind rushed in to fill up the void left behind but the summer heatwave. I need to get myself some mittens.
Well, I’ve got a bazillion things to do, so please don’t mind me if I zip out for awhile. If I don’t get to say so tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it – drive safe!

Themes: Brand New Look!
2010 | Blogging, Random
Just a flyby to update everyone on the final completion (with a few bugs, I’m sure) of the brand new theme. I think it’s been something like a year (maybe even more) since I’ve had it in me to redesign the theme for this website. I’ve missed it, my damn muse that I’ve been lacking for all these months. I blame Mike for this.
Well, I blame a lot of things. It’s been a hell of a life, but the last few years have been so hectic and so much extra headache and heartache, I don’t know I think my creativity just went poof from lack of room for it in my life.
I hope everyone enjoys the new theme, the image at the top is a picture of the trees outside of my bedroom window which actually look way creepier in real life, lol.

A New Webhost May Be In My Future
2010 | Blogging, Money, Rants, Wordpress
Not that I don’t like my current webhost or anything, it’s fine except you can barely upload anything, it kicks me for no reason and if I try and use a WordPress function (heaven forbid!) it may ban my IP from the server. Okay, I get that it’s for security reasons and I’m thrilled with that, but why am I paying an arm and a leg when I could go back to BangGraphix and actually be able to use my website?
That being said, I still have to see what’s out there. Any thoughts? Good hosts? Above all, cheap?

I missed my blog! Uh, I mean my readers!
| Blogging, Downloads, Random, Rants
Been quite a long time, and I’m finding myself to be less and less creative as the months drag on. I’ve gotten back into blogging, somewhat, but my main reason for leaving Beautiful Sin for so long (and in such a neglected state) is that I just haven’t had the time to devote to it. Not like I used to.
Part of my issue is that this blog and I have sort of jumped the shark together, which is okay but I’d like to move my everyday ramblings to Victory Girl and return Beautiful Sin to what it was meant to be – a designers resource. I miss that, I miss my brushes, may they rest in peace. I miss a lot of things.
So, what do I do? Do I continue down the road of neglect, maybe resurrect a few downloads but let this place fester? Do I return this website to it’s roots, a free for all blog with a few downloads? Should I move my downloads to a different website and continue to gripe about fun stuff on this one? (Ooh, I like that idea!)
What would you do? One way or another I know I’ll probably move this site to a new server, because this one’s starting to royally tick me off. I’ll probably put up a poll or something – or something, lol.
