Touch Screen Phone, You Say? Only $50, You Say?

All this talk about phones has gotten me looking again. The market for phones of all kinds is huge, and I know what I want (I'm greedy, you're about to find out how true that is) – the whole package. I want a name brand (either an LG or a Nokia, I have a Samsung and a Motorola Razr), I want the same amazing coverage and all the trimmings I'm getting now (unlimited calling and texting, cheap international, camera, mobile web, etc. for $50 a month with no contracts/credit checks/you name it) but I also want something my current phone doesn't have. I want gadgets!
I want trendy, trendy gadgets! I want a touch screen, I want apps, I want a video recorder – the works. I want it to look cool. Yes, I am that shallow. I want it to look all Star Trek, and I don't want to have to sell my house to afford it like I would have to if I wanted to purchase a touch screen anything from a certain fruit-titled company who shall not be named. And if I don't get what I want, I will absolutely have a hissy over it.
I'm starting to make a bit more money, and while I can't afford to spend willy nilly (now suddenly wondering where that term comes from :/), I can afford to save up for this bad boy – the LG 800G. It's…. it's…. *sigh*
  • Let's just go over what it offers, real quick (oh, and this is for about $50 bucks – take THATLG 800G unlocked eBay phones and people who still buy them and refuse to see the Light!):
  • Touch Screen
  • Mobile Web
  • Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
  • 2.0 Megapixel Camera & Video Recorder
  • MP3 Player (cable and microSD Card not included)
  • APP Capable (App download requires purchase of additional memory)
  • MMS Picture Messaging
  • Voicemail, Call Waiting, and Caller ID
  • Text Messaging
  • LCD Color Display
  • Hands-Free Speaker
  • Voice/Sound Recorder
  • Auto Redial
  • Alarm Clock
  • Phonebook with up to 1000 Entries
  • Includes Polyphonic Ringtones
  • Lightweight – 3.06 ounces
  • Battery talk time up to 4 hours
  • Standby time up to 8 days
And Net10 phones are durable little buggers with either pay-as-you-go plans (don't worry, your minutes carry over if your service remains active), the Unlimited Minutes, Text and Web plan which is the one my mom would need and that's about $50 a month, but then there's the perfect-for-me plan: The Easy minutes plan.
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
The Easy Minuter Plan is an automatic minutes plan and it starts out at 200 minutes and you can get that for something like $15, which is exactly what I was griping about before. I love prepaid's, but I wish they had smaller minute plans and this is about the perfect size! I think you can buy minutes at stores, I think I've seen them at Dollar General, but if you're anything like me you're probably so busy you'll opt for the easy route – the internet or directly from your phone. I prefer the net, but I tend to prefer the net for everything, lol.
They have information I don't, so check them out on Facebook if you get a chance, and follow them on Twitter!
It would be great to have a phone for the house and one for when I'm out on the road, especially one that takes better pictures than the one I've got now. Plus I need a minimal quality video recorder if I'm ever going to do those vintage hair tutorials over at Victory Girl, and I really don't want to have to choose between a new phone and a camera. Way too cheap for that! Basically, I want something that will help me keep in touch with my bosses and clients so I can write off a frivolous luxury (that I want, want, want!) as a business expense. :P
Don't take my word for it, hear it from a real NET10 customer and then ask your local genie to send me an LG 800G!
