December Birthdays Bring Money Issues

Oh the money issues I’m having! I’m going to go out on a limb and say I dislike people with December birthdays, just because of the gifting proximity to Christmas. I’m living on almost nothing as it is, and out of the blue 3 birthdays and an anniversary pop up that I didn’t know about. As if buying gifts for Christmas when you’re broke wasn’t hard enough, now I have a bunch of birthdays and special occasions to deal with!

It wouldn’t be such a big deal if they were all easy to please. My stepdad is, he just wants to be thought of so there’s no need for fancy things – a plate of home made cookies, a CD of 50s music and card will do the trick. But then you have the pickier people who want something special and substantial like a certain young lady who thinks she needs big time gifts like electronics or spa trips I can’t afford.

What happened to the days where special was a little sparkle that made your day? I can get behind a pretty coat or wine gift baskets, those things scream happy holidays to me. I’m not against gifting of iPad’s and other such luxuries if you can afford it (I can’t), but they lack that special something, don’t you think?

They were just talking on the Vintage Lifestyle Hour radio show last night about how Jet Age cocktail parties are making a come back, and about the glamour of nightlife at the time. Maybe that’s what I’m really craving in my holidays?
