Buffy vs. Edward Cullen

2009 | Movies, Rants, Rawr, Religion, TV, Video

As you know, I’m sure, from all my ranting I’m no fan of Twilight. I’ve been known to refer to it as Twifart and it’s fans as Twitards or Twibait and in my house toilet paper has been jokingly renamed Twilight paper in honor of how much we dislike this book/film franchise.

I’m a much bigger Buffy fan. In fact, I’m a bigger Buffy fan than I am a fan of almost anything, so when Laota shared with me her find from Rebellious Pixels it made my day!

That is *exactly* what I’ve wanted to see for eleven billion years, lol. Kick his butt, Buffy! Kick it! Again!

Some People Are Weird

Do you want to see something funny? Pssht, I know you do, lol. How he thinks this crap up I don’t know, but when I first saw this video I giggled so hard I think I broke a rib or something, lol. Here’s a little behind the scenes footage from the filming of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen:

Seriously, how does he think that stuff up? Does it just come to him or something? I almost feel bad for Megan, lol. Just had to get that out of the way.

Review: How To Lose Friends and Alienate People

2009 | Movies, Reviews

htlfI’ve finally gotten to see the Kirsten Dunst dramady ashcan How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, a film I was lead to believe was a piece of garbage thanks to low ticket sales, media thumbs downing and critic panning. Contrary to all of that, I gave it a shot because I’m a big fan of Megan Fox, Jeff Bridges and the always amazing uber-hottie Simon Pegg, and you know what? It was insanely good.

How did this film get bad reviews? Did the reviewers just not see it and play a game a grab ass, then play yet another game of follow the leader after the first critic called pew on it? Probably. I’m of the mind that most film critics don’t really watch the films they’re critiquing.

The film is very much the same great storytelling films you’d expect from Pegg and has a bit of that Apatow charm (Judd had nothing to do with it as far as I know).

Okay, here’s something else that’s interesting about the film? It’s not about Kirsten Dunst’s character. It’s about Simon Pegg. How did that slip under the radar? The awful media, awful! Trying to get me not to watch a Simon Pegg film! Overall the film was great, Dunst was awful, Fox was perfect and Pegg was the most enjoyable part aside from the script. [review pros="Great Story, Great Adaption, Simon Pegg, Megan Fox, Jeff Bridges" cons="Over-use of Kirsten Dunst" score=95]

Coming Soon: Jennifer’s Body and 1997?

2009 | Movies, Reviews

Okay, I admit it, I’m a little biased. Not only am I already a big fan of Megan Fox (which would have led me to see Jennifer’s Body anyway), but I grew up in the 90s and when I think of American horror films, I don’t think of Saw and Drag Me To Hell. I think of the films that were popular when I was in my teenage years.

I think of films they just don’t make anymore. Films like the Scream franchise, Foxfire (yes, it is a horror film, albeit a porny one, lol) and, my personal favorite, The Craft. Yeah, Faith constantly waxes nostalgic, so when I saw the very Wick-esque Red Band trailer to Jennifer’s Body (you can view it here), and it’s awesome, moody-buzz-alterna-rock soundtrack (including the fabulous 80s punkette nu wave band The Waitresses) with the killer visuals, Nancy Downs Meets Cordelia Chase bad girl and dry but brutal wit I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

This film relies heavily on Megan Fox being crazy hot, but Jennifer’s Body is NOT torture porn! Has Diablo Cody (Juno) taken Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls) and current “It Girl” Megan Fox (Transformers) and started the long journey away from awful or ripped off horror films?

Are the 90s getting a revival? Look at the newest of the new fashion trends – thigh and knee highs, high heeled mary janes, grunge, techno skater – have all made come backs. Alterna-rock is also seeing a revival, as well as baby jewelry/barettes, french twists, butterflies/dragonflies, cold gem toned nail polish and make up, etc. Are we headed back to the days when Angelina Jolie was a foul mouthed hacker, Sarah Michelle Gellar was a super hero and Rob Thomas wanted nothing more than to push us around? God, I hope so. Break out the Surge and the Fetish by Dana. Viva la 90s!
