Ladies Love Bling, Too!
2009 | Beauty, Gifts and Giving, Reviews, Safety, Shopping
I’m a girl, well loosely defined at least, hehe. Granted, I’m not particularly femme and I’m not particularly meek – and, let’s face it, I can be downright butch – but that doesn’t stop me from being a girl. Why is this in any way important? Because, as it turns out, if you can find any kind of Hip Hop jewelry on the net you’re likely going to find male-only or unisex. That’s something that’s turned me off to Hip Hop jewelry in recent years.
I did get to check out Iced Out Jewelry today, though, and if you haven’t gone I think you’re missing out. Let’s set aside that they coined more than a few of the trends you’ll see in Hip Hop jewelry, or the fact that they’re over a decade old ( as well secured like Folsom ), so you don’t have to worry about buying from them online. Yeah, let’s set all that aside so that I can make a huge deal about the one tiny thing that sets them apart from every Hip Hop jewelry retailer I’ve ever come across – they have a Ladies Bling section! It’s not huge, but the pieces are gorgeous (all of their jewelry is gorgeous, though). Hey, Iced Out! Why didn’t I know about you guys back when I still wore jewelry?

Kmart Bluelight Specials – August 8th only!
2009 | Beauty, Clothing, Electronics, Family, Friends, Gifts and Giving, Home and Garden, Money, Shopping
This post was sponsored by Kmart. All the opinions are mine.
As you know, I don’t get the privilege of living near franchise wars – meaning no restaurants here, no mega marts at all. In fact, the newest store in town (making it a total of 2 stores in the city limits) is the brand new Dollar General up by the highway (nice place, but you can’t exactly buy clothes there). Which means I have no access to the one store that I want access to right now, which is Kmart.
I’ll give you that Kmart’s not usually the kind of place I buy my clothes, and the reason is that the clothes they have don’t reflect my style at all (I tend towards vintage, Rockabilly and post-war styles and they’re hard to find at a mega-mart style family store, however nice it may be) but right now they’re having a sale tomorrow (August 8, 2009) ONLY, and you can get special offers all day long. In fact, they’ve got over 40 Bluelight Specials in-store throughout the day and you can find offers at Kmart.com if you’re like me and you can’t get to a physical store location. (You can keep up to date on deals from Kmart by following Kmart on Twitter)
I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be watching Kmart.com like a hawk tomorrow. Join me, if you can comment here about what deals you got during the Kmart Bluelight specials!
You can save on everything from diamonds (10% off their already discounted price which is 70% off) to 70% off regular prices on all of their patio furniture, and even clothing like Womens Joe Boxer flip flops which care only $4 per pair!

Review: BudgetGadgets.com
2009 | Electronics, Freebies, Gifts and Giving, Money, Reviews, Shopping
From time to time I get the chance to review products and services, and so far I’ve never had a better experience than I’ve had with BudgetGadgets. BudgetGadgets.com is an amazing find for anyone who loves fun, quirky little electronic gadgets for your PC, iPhone, Camera – whatever you can think of.
They sent me a couple of their products so that I could test them out and jot down my results, so here goes. First up is Hello Kitty Shape Portable USB Cooler Fan KF-500, which showed up a few days ago and I thought I’d take a bit of time to not only test it out, but test it’s durability.
First of all, it’s packaging was fabulous. It came new in it’s box in a protected envalope that arrived extremely quickly (have I mentioned that even if I’d bought these items, my shipping would have been FREE? That’s right, they offer free shipping, how cool is that!?). This fan comes with a USB cord to plug right into your PC’s USB port and it also takes batteries:

I’ve had it hooked up and using it for several days. Well, I work 16 hours a day during the best of circumstances, and it’s very hot and humid here, so the fan has been working over time and it hasn’t cracked, chipped, it hasn’t quit working, it doesn’t conk out at all. It’s price is great, too, it’s less than $6 to get this cute little fan brand new! In fact, I think the only issues I’ve got with it are that it only has one speed setting and it’s a bit on the loud side, but the fan noise isn’t at all annoying so it hasn’t bothered me much. Great little gadget to have!

[review pros="Cute, Durable, Effective, Portable, Good Packaging, Free Fast Shipping" cons="Noisy, Only One Speed" score=95]
Now onto the next gadget. It’s the Mini Microphone Recorder for iPhone 3G/iPod NANO 4/Touch 2, and it’s exactly like what it sounds like it is. This little gadget is a pill-sized microphone for your iPod or similarly styled recorder-equipped media player. It came, just like the other gadget, brand new in it’s package and well packed for shipping. Arrived extremely quickly!

My MP4 player is a generic Rockchip player with a sound recorder, and I didn’t know if it would work with the Mini Mic but it did! I don’t know the mechanics of how it works, but it definitely made the the sound of my voice crisper, clearer and louder. I don’t think I have any issues with this at all, it’s a steal at under $3!

[review pros="Free Shipping, Great Price, Works Great" cons="None!" score=100]
Overall the BudgetGadgets.com is a great site! It’s extremely easy to use, the customer service is SO friendly and helpful, the shipping is fast and free and the gadgets they offer are fun and very useful! Plus the prices are great, too! If you’d like to buy from them, they’ve given me a gift to pass on to you: 5% off of your order sitewide by entering this coupon during checkout: FM5OFF2
I’m definitely going to be buying from them sometime in the future. They’ve got a lot of great gadgets there that I’m already in love with!

I So Need A Branson, Missouri Vacation
2009 | Holidays, Money, Shopping, Travel
Every once in awhile I get really depressed that I live in Missouri. I live in a spot where there’s no work, no dining, no entertainment – heck, there may as well be no sun or air here. I realize that this is the “simple” life, and a lot of people enjoy it but I’m a city brat and by nature this is like being caught on a giant glue board.
This isn’t, however, the way it is all over Missouri. In fact I live in the same state as one of the biggest, most well known vacation spots in America and I’m sure all over the world – Branson, Missouri.
We’ve got a lot of cool stuff in Missouri – we’ve got painted caverns, The Ozarks, Six Flags, riverboats, casinos, historical sites but for a girl who grew up in Vacation Land, Branson’s got everything. They have live shows, they have fine dining, they have luxurious surroundings with a lot to do like the kind you’ll find at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing but my sister and I hail from Anaheim, California (she was born there, I was not) and consider it to be our home so, of course, I’m the kind of girl who can’t pass up a theme park.
Sure we’ve got theme parks up here (Oceans and Worlds of Fun – both of them from the people who brought you Knott’s Berry Farm), but this is different. Branson is like Candy Land for people who love to have a good time with their friends and families. And there’s no place in Missouri that more embodies good, clean fun than Silver Dollar City.

I can’t even make a list of things to do – they’d all be in Silver Dollar City, lol. Well, that’s not entirely true. I’m crazy in love with the idea of staying in a cabin at The Wilderness, then checking out the Branson Belle Showboat. Then I think it would be Ripley’s Believe It or Not and the Roy Rogers / Dale Evans Museum. Of course we’d have to visit the Dinosaur Museum, the fountain in the town square and lastly we’d check out the Dixie Stampede show. I’d love to do all of those things but mostly I just want to get to the attractions at Silver Dollar City. I’m a log flune person, call it a crutch, and I love coasters!
I would love to check in to the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel, though, because they’ve got some top notch recreation – like fishing. Yes, fishing is one of the neat things listed on their website! How cool is that?
Actually right now they’re having a great special offer that gets a family of four overnight accomodations and 3 day park hopper passes to Silver Dollar City and White Water from about $439, which is a steal!
